Welcome to Sweet Green KitchenMy name is Jen and I never met a recipe I didn’t want to change. I view recipes as inspirational guidelines, not rules to follow. I hope you find some delicious healthy recipes that inspire you to cook and eat and feel free to change at will. If you enjoy what you see, please feel free to subscribe, you’ll receive recipes as my life and time permits and I promise not to fill your inbox or your tummies with any junk. Enjoy!A little bit about Me
I eat vegetables, fruits, eggs & dairy, a little bit of fish, and of course some tasty sweet treats. What I don’t eat; beef, poultry, pork, artificial anything, GMO’s, hi-fructose corn syrup, and most highly processed “foods”. I am technically Pescetarian, but usually refer to myself as Vegetarian, as it’s just easier to explain. I love to eat, I love to cook, I love to read through recipes; whether in magazines, books or blogs. I love to think about recipes, ingredients, etc. and think about how I want to make them my own. Often the changes I make to recipes are based on personal tastes and preferences and sometimes the changes are based on what’s available or not in my pantry or fridge. Cooking, to me, is not just a way to put food on the table, but is a creative outlet and an expression of love. I cook with the intention of creating the most healthful food that is also delicious. I want my family, my friends, and the world to know that healthy food can, and often does taste amazing. Happy cooking!
The FamilyJen – that’s me, chief cook and dish washer, doesn’t seem quite fair, but that’s how it is. Wife to Colin. Mother to Skyler and Evan.
Colin – husband and first love of my life (the children being the other loves of my life). Resident taster when home, works way too much and often has to settle for leftovers (if we save him any!). Makes up for missed dinners by tasting his way through all the treats.
Skyler – Webmaster, Creative Consultant, Inspiration and Top Taster. Sophisticated palate, loves most vegetables, even Brussels sprouts and kale! Despises all things coconut and distinctly dislikes the sweeter vegetables such as beets and squash (strange, right?). Without her tireless efforts this site would not exist.
Evan – the wee one, loves all things sweet, fruit and ice cream two of his favorite food groups, along with pasta, yogurt and train shaped pb&j sandwiches. Willingly tastes (and usually enjoys) all the baked goods and treats from the kitchen, but won’t touch a vegetable or most other things I cook with a ten foot pole.

I’m simply stunned, Jen. Your family sounds like such an engaging crowd! Say, your daughter Skyler configured this entire site? But that’s just amazing! The site is so well organized and sophisticated. I am impressed, Jen, I am impressed. Keep on blogging, I can’t wait to make more of your mouth watering recipes and maybe even hear more snippets about your family, who sound like such warm, witty, and vivacious people.
I lean towards Evan’s tastes, husband’s to the rest, but I will cook just about anything. Looking forward to trying (cooking only on many) some of the recipes! 🙂
Hi Jen, thank you so much for your kind words about my blog- made my day! I am enjoying discovering your recipes too. And your “a little bit about me” section makes me smile- I am exactly the same way- I spend sooo much time just pondering recipe ideas, reading cookbooks like they are novels, and even trying to talk to my husband about millions of recipe ideas even when he really doesn’t care and just wants to be fed. Us food bloggers are a little crazy like that aren’t we?! 🙂
I'd love to know what you think....please feel free to leave a reply Cancel reply
